Beautiful sunsets are everywhere and are one of the most photographed subjects, however often the picture doesn’t turn out right. Focusing with the lens on your camera on such a bright object is asking for trouble. You cannot completely rely on the built-in light meter. In these modern times taking multiple photos cost you nothing (printing these is something else). So take some pictures with different exposures in these circumstances and choose the best. Even better: if you work with a tripod and the subject is not moving, you can bring togetherthe different exposed images and thus obtain an HDR photo (High Dynamic Range). If you took the picture with your smartphone you can also obtain this effect afterwards with an app (Snapseed, for example) or you can usea program like PhotoDirector. It makes the brighter areas of the picture darker and lightens the darker areas. This photo was taken in late November on the Gulf of Mexico. The couple shot dozens of selfies and I also took a number of pictures of them, with different exposures. BTW: Santa Rosa Beach and Sea View are amazing places where you can fully enjoy the sea.
