De Olympische winterspelen zitten er weer op, maar we betwijfelen of onze Belgen in Amerika het nieuws hebben gehaald. Ondanks de acht deelnemers die onze driekleur vertegenwoordigden, was de buit pover.
Onze shorttracker Pieter Gysel zag zich vooral genekt door de moeilijke lotingen op de 1000 en 500 meter. Op de 1500 meter haalde hij wel een negende plaats. De meest opvallende prestatie kwam ongetwijfeld van onze bobbende meisjes, Elfje en Eva, die knap veertiende werden.

De Post-La Poste, Belgium’s national postal operator, acquired a majority stake in MSI Worldwide Mail, a U.S.-based mail and parcel delivery company. The company will continue to operate as MSI Worldwide Mail and will be managed by its founding partners Richard Gerhardt and Christopher Taylor for at least the next five years.
De Post-La Poste said its business unit Belgian Post International will use the new partnership with MSI to further expand its retail operations in the United States and worldwide.

Mother Nature has been showing her worst side of late: first the Haiti
earthquake, then the one in Chile, which was followed by a tsunami.
Meanwhile, Europe, too, was hit by a storm named Xynthia, which caused
about 50 deaths in France and one in Belgium (a person hit by a falling

Relief agencies are complaining that donations for Chile are slow in coming.

The former Bishop of Namur,André Léonard, has now officially taken on his new post as the Archbishop of the Mechelen- Brussels diocese. Sixty-nine year-old Monsignor Léonard takes over from Cardinal Godfried Danneels who is retiring. The bi-lingual Walloon clergyman officially took over the stewardship of the diocese at a special mass in the Saint-Rombout’s Cathedral in Mechelen (Antwerp province) on Saturday afternoon.
